Homeschool Students Participation in ACS Fine Arts Program
Augusta Christian Schools is pleased to offer Art, Band or Chorus for homeschool students in grades 4 - 12 (grades 1-12 for art).
Class Information:
ART
Art classes are arranged with the Art Teacher (i.e., a 3rd grader may take art with the 3rd grade class, etc.).
CHORUS
Elementary Chorus (4th & 5th graders) meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday at noon
Middle and High School Chorus (combined) - Monday - Friday, 2:15 to 3:05 pm
BAND
Elementary Band (4th & 5th graders) meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday at noon
Middle and High School Bands meet Monday through Friday (5 days per week) as follows:
Middle School Band (6th - 8th graders) - 12:25 - 1:15 p.m. (5th period)
High School Band (9th - 12th graders) - 2:15 - 3:05 p.m. (7th period)
What do the students experience?
Classes consist of individual and group instruction in art/music performance and theory, art exhibits, music rehearsals and performances, evaluation festivals, and special field trip projects as scheduled throughout the year.
Note: a student may begin instrumental instruction at any grade level. Middle and High School students beginning study on a Band instrument may be given an opportunity to work with additional ensembles in order to advance more rapidly until they reach the proficiency level of their peers.
What are the requirements?
Homeschool students are generally expected to meet the same requirements as Augusta Christian's full-time students. This includes punctual attendance at rehearsals and performances, musical practice (outside of class), and personal deportment. Some instruments are provided by the school within the limits of its inventory. Other instruments are to be provided by the students through either rental or purchase (the school can facilitate either through local instrument merchants).
What is the registration fee and applicaton process?
The homeschool fee for a full academic year (August through May) of Art, Band, and/or Chorus is $200. Partial payments may be arranged. Application packets are available through the school offices from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, or you may visit the Admissions page of our website (link below).
