Fine Arts at ACS

At Augusta Christian Schools, the fine arts give students opportunities to develop their God-given gifts, express their creativity, and grow in confidence. Through music, visual arts, and drama, students learn to honor Christ, pursue excellence, and build Kingdom leaders who use their talents to serve others and glorify God.

Our Fine Arts Department is housed in the Charles B. Whitney Fine Arts Center, named in honor of one of our school founders. The center features spacious band and choral suites, practice rooms, and a large visual arts classroom.

Band

Students in grades 4–12 may participate in three levels of band instruction, developing musical skills, discipline, and teamwork. Throughout the year, our bands perform in concerts and participate in local, regional, and state festivals and competitions.

Chorus

Our choral program serves students in grades 4–12 through elementary and middle/high school choruses. Students develop their voices and performance skills while learning the value of preparation and collaboration. ACS choral groups have consistently earned superior ratings at festivals and competitions, along with past regional and state honors in vocal and piano performance. The choral program also welcomes homeschool students from the CSRA.

Visual Arts

Students in grades 1–5 receive visual arts instruction that encourages creativity and introduces foundational artistic skills. Middle and high school students may further explore their talents through art and ceramics classes, learning to appreciate beauty and communicate ideas through their work.

Drama

Drama classes provide opportunities for students to develop skills in acting, storytelling, and stage performance. Students participate in One Act Play, Red Carpet Night, Encore Night, and other productions that encourage creativity, confidence, and teamwork.

Each spring, our drama and choral departments come together to present a Broadway musical. Past productions include Mary Poppins, The Wizard of Oz, The Music Man, The Sound of Music, Beauty and the Beast, Newsies and The Little Mermaid.

Fine Arts Coordinator

Mr. Chris Norris has led the Augusta Christian School Fine Arts program since 2011 and serves as the Choral Director for both the Middle and High School Chorus. A longtime member of the Augusta Christian family, Mr. Norris’s deep connection to the school is reflected in both his service and his family—his wife, Jenifer, teaches fifth grade, and his children, Drew, Rachel, and Benjamin, are all proud graduates of ACS. In addition to his role at Augusta Christian, Mr. Norris also serves as the pastor of Harvest Pointe Fellowship in Martinez, Georgia.
